Dr. Lide may recommend oral sedation if we need to perform extensive treatment or if you need help relaxing during your appointment. For oral sedation, we will prescribe a sedative, such as Halcion or Valium, for you to take an hour before your dental appointment. We strongly advise that you have someone accompany you to your appointment since you will feel drowsy.
At our Richardson dental office, our team will escort you to a dental chair in our comfortable operatory and cover you with a thick, warm blanket. You won’t be completely unconscious, but you will feel very relaxed while we treat you. When your procedure is complete, your driver can take you home. The effects of your sedation will wear off gradually, so don't plan on doing anything the remainder of the day. By the next day, you'll be fine to go to work and continue normal activities.
