Bonding and White Filling

One marvel of modern dentistry is the tooth-colored filling. For many years, dark metal fillings were the only option to repair tooth decay. This material, called amalgam, was made from various metal composites and it contained mercury, which is hazardous to humans. Amalgam fillings are still used today. Dr. Lide prefers to use the attractive, durable, metal-free alternative to amalgam: composite resin.

Composite resin can be tinted to match your enamel, creating a tooth-colored filling that blends with your smile. You probably won't be able to tell which tooth has the filling after Dr. Lide is finished! The process involves preparing your tooth by removing decay, then inserting liquid composite resin. Dr. Lide will harden the resin with a safe and cool curing light. Then he'll sculpt and polish the tooth-colored filling so that it looks and feels great.

If your smile is tarnished by old amalgam fillings, or if you have a cavity, call Dr. Lide's Richardson dentist's office to schedule your checkup today. We serve patients from throughout the Dallas area, including Plano, Addison, and Garland.
